This course has been extended to a full day, to incorporate case studies and more detailed input regarding early help. Staff dealing with attendance issues have the opportunity to explore particular scenarios that affect a range of primary, secondary and special schools. We hope this extended training will assist schools in implementing the process.
Suitable for: All Academies and Maintained Schools, Designated Liaison Person for pupil attendance; Head teachers; SLT Attendance Leads; Attendance Managers with leadership responsibility for attendance.
Ofsted and the Children's Commissioner for England have raised concerns about children being taken off roll and 'disappearing' from the authorities. In the process of school inspections, data concerning children who have been removed from roll is studied and analysed. Attendance, after all, is a safeguarding issue.

Any court process is complicated. Family Court has specific rules and regulations designed to ensure the multi agency process integrates and ‘dovetails’ timelines, legal boundaries, departmental processes and safeguarding responsibilities for all affected parties. Keeping your focus on supporting pupils and/or parents in these circumstances, while ensuring you adhere to the rules can be daunting.
The Court Process for children, parent(s) and school can seem complicated and time-consuming. This course offers the opportunity to see how it all fits together and what responsibilities and lines of communication the school has at its disposal to help them through the process.
